For two new offices in Cyrus, Barclays asked us to abandon previous global design standards and design spaces that might encourage staff to not just work from strictly designated portions of a rigid open plan layout. This also allowed us to drop a rather dated aesthetic, developing instead a palette coherent with a modern Mediterranean outlook.
In the client meeting suites we’ve given a warmer feel focused on American walnut credenzas and tables and selected some weighty Boss Kruze chairs to give an almost 50’s feel somehow drawing on shipping magnate interiors.
At both Limassol and Nicosia we were able to select double-height office shells, consenting a more spacious environment. The mezzanine levels are dedicated to meeting suites and executive offices. The open plan areas are enlivened by irregular desk alignments and associated with less formal meeting areas, no longer in blank sealed ‘meeting rooms’.
